Helping children

The Rotary Club of North Garland County/Scenic 7 recently received an update on the growing attendance and programs available to area youths at Cedar Mountain Boys and Girls Club. Its director, Susan Clark, left, and Resource Development Coordinator Sarah Burns, right, were introduced by April Program Chair Liz Mathis. The club served 37,000 meals and snacks in 2016, and many children take home "backpack meals" to supplement nutritional needs over breaks and holidays. The club has 233 registered members, and expects daily attendance of 110-120 this summer. In order to keep costs affordable for parents, the club will be having its annual Champions for Children Pancake Breakfast on June 24. Scenic 7 Rotary meets at noon on Thursdays in Charlie's Pizza Pub, and visitors are always welcome. Call Membership Chairman Jan Saunders at 501-282-2024 for more information.
