The Garland County Library, 1427 Malvern Ave., will host a three-part Beginning Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom class taught by Lynette Glass at 5:30 p.m. May 9, 16, and 23.

Glass first became interested in weaving 14 years ago when she happened upon a weaving book at a Texas public library. She pursued the hobby by taking weaving lessons from local teachers and reading books and magazines about the skill. Glass learned to weave on a Schacht Spindle Co. rigid heddle loom, the same type attendees of the class will use.

Glass has taught weaving to learners of all ages for eight years in both one-on-one settings and group environments. To her, a news release said, the best part of teaching children to weave is the joy in their faces when they catch on and exclaim, "I'm doing it!"

While living in West Virginia, Glass was juried and accepted as one of the local artisans at Tamarack, the Best of West Virginia, where she did weaving demonstrations and exhibited work in a retail setting. She has also done weaving demonstrations at the Boy Scout Jamboree in West Virginia.

A $5 fee is required at time of registration to cover supplies. Registrations must be made in person at the library.
