Highway 5 a better route

Dear editor:

Ref. front-page article of Aug. 9, 2017, "JPs show support for trail":

This article states the trail "is expected to parallel the Highway 70 east corridor." Also, "the trail is expected to run parallel to the defunct Missouri Pacific Railroad Line" and also to connect 11 (unnamed) communities, and "(the trail) addresses transportation needs?

I would suggest this trail follow Highway 5, as that is a scenic route. Highway 5 would lead to Park Avenue, which leads to Whittington Avenue, which was written up so wonderfully by Corbet Deary on Aug. 6, 2017.

The Highway 5 route would also be a good connection for Northwoods.

In respect to the article of July 29, 2017, please remember that the $173,333.33-plus is only for a trail design, not a real trail.
