A Hot Springs man was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend's son last month.

Carl Leonard Prell, 48, of 230 Manor Circle, was arrested shortly before 12:45 p.m. Thursday and charged with misdemeanor counts of harassing communications and terroristic threatening, both punishable by up to one year in jail. He was later released on a $2,000 bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court on Aug. 22.

According to the affidavit, on July 21, a local woman, 43, told Hot Springs police that Prell, her ex-boyfriend of four months, contacted her over the phone. She said that he was upset because she had moved on with her life.

She said Prell had been texting her several times in the week leading up to July 21 about her juvenile son. She said that one of his texts said, "I'm going to beat the f - - - out of" the juvenile.

She said she had received several texts about her son even after telling him to stop, and he has made several threats toward her son in the past. She said her son fears for his safety.
