A Mountain Pine woman was arrested Monday after a traffic stop for fictitious license plates reportedly led to the discovery of methamphetamine in her vehicle.

Kandace Michelle Pinkston, 29, who lists an Old Tram Road address, was taken into custody shortly before 3:30 p.m. and charged with felony counts of unauthorized use of another person's property to facilitate certain crimes, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, possession of meth or cocaine with purpose to deliver, punishable by up to 10 years, and possession of drug paraphernalia for meth or cocaine, punishable by up to six years, and misdemeanor counts of fictitious tags and driving on a suspended license.

She remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of a $22,000 bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court on Aug. 28.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Arkansas State Police Trooper Ryan Wingo noticed a black Toyota passenger car traveling on Highway 270 by Exit 6. The license on the vehicle returned as a Chevrolet passenger car.

Wingo caught up to the vehicle as it was exiting onto Higdon Ferry Road. He activated his emergency lights and pulled the vehicle over into the Valero parking lot at 1676 Higdon Ferry.

The driver, identified as Pinkston, told Wingo she didn't have any paperwork for the vehicle. After checking her name and date of birth, her license came back as suspended and showed she was a probationer with an active search waiver.

Wingo searched the vehicle and allegedly found a used syringe and digital scales in the back seat. He found a spoon with substance on it and more syringes in Pinkston's purse. One of the syringes contained a clear substance, which was tested and returned positive for meth.

An ACIC check on the license plate revealed the vehicle's owner to be in Malvern.
