MENA -- Fountain Lake's volleyball team went undefeated in Saturday's LadyCat Classic at Mena High School.

In pool play, the Lady Cobras defeated Lake Hamilton (25-23, 25-20), Booneville (25-21, 26-24), Mansfield (25-20, 25-17) and Jessieville (25-13, 25-13), earning the team a first round bye in bracket play.

Fountain Lake downed Lake Hamilton 25-20, 26-24 in the semifinals. Olivia Cox had 10 kills, Erin Graves nine digs and Lyndsey Blees two aces off eight serves with five kills for the Lady Cobras.

Cox led with 12 kills in the 25-20, 25-21 final against Lakeside. Elizabeth Bairett had eight serves and four kills and Molly Breshears six digs for the Lady Cobras.

Fountain Lake (5-0, 1-0) is home against Malvern on Thursday.

Prescott golfer posts

68 in prep tourney

GLENWOOD -- Centerpoint's Kaydra Fox edged Lake Hamilton's Jordyn Thacker by one stroke for medalist honors in a high school golf tournament Monday at Glenwood Country Club.

Fox had a 104 with teammate Keasha Owens third overall at 119. Jaci Palmer (125) followed Thacker in Lake Hamilton's scoring.

Led by medalist Hank Crain's 68, Prescott (253) downed Centerpoint (309) for boys' team honors. Tyler Doucet added an 84 and Carter Neal a 101 for the Curley Wolves. Gabe Doster had a 94, Owen Bright a 104 and Michael Bright a 111 for Centerpoint. Lake Hamilton entered two golfers, Caleb Dodd with a 79 and Jordan Johnson with an 86.

Lupus benefit golf

event slated Sept. 9

The 20th Terry Paul Thode Lupus Memorial golf tournament, benefiting Lupus Foundation of Arkansas Inc., is Saturday, Sept. 9 at Diamondhead Country Club. Registration begins at noon and tee time is 1 p.m.

The four-person scramble offers divisions for males, females and mixed teams. Entry fee is $60 for a Diamondhead member not using a golf cart and $70 for all others. A dinner follows the round with tickets $13 per guest.
