Bismarck advances to MC final

MAGNET COVE -- Holding the host team to single digits for the first three quarters, Bismarck rolled to a 48-33 win over Magnet Cove in the semi-finals of the Magnet Cove senior basketball tournament Thursday.

Leading by 18 after three quarters, the Lions relaxed their defense, allowing the Panthers to more than double their score by adding 18 of their own in the final eight minutes.

Bismarck jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the opening quarter before adding 14 in the second to take a 25-11 lead into the break.

Magnet Cove stepped up the defense in the third, allowing only eight for Bismarck, but the Lions held the home team to four points as they stretched their lead to 33-15 going into the final frame.

Sawyer Hardage paced the Lions with 18 points, including three shots from distance and three steals. Colton McMullin added 12 points with six rebounds and four steals, Dylan Clayton put up eight with three boards and Jayden Howell had six points with two boards, two steals and four assists.

Collier Robertson and Alex Ventress rounded out the scoring with two each. Robertson picked up 10 rebounds and three assists while Ventress had two assists.

The Lions (5-1) will face Centerpoint in the finals of the tournament tonight at 8 p.m. at Magnet Cove.
