meets Thursday
The John Percifull Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at West Shores Retirement Community. Lunch is at noon for $10 and the program begins at 12:30 p.m. Please call Cindy Smith, 501-617-2396, for reservations no later than Monday.
The guest is Susan Harper, director of Visitor Services and Volunteers at Garvan Woodland Gardens, Arkansas' botanical garden. Her duties are recruiting and training 300 volunteers, insuring that visitors have a good experience at the gardens, and making living history presentations. She is a native of Hot Springs, graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Gulf Park College for Women in Mississippi. Harper will "channel" Verna Cook Garvan, the benefactor and conservationist whose vision and generosity has given Hot Springs the world-class botanical gardens that bear her name.

The Computer Club of Hot Springs Village will meet at 8 a.m. Friday at Debra's in the Village. If interested in sharing technology and talking with like-minded persons, please come. Membership in the club is not required.
The club urges members to attend its annual Christmas party at 6 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Coronado Center Auditorium. Twenty-five door prizes will be awarded to attendees, among them is an Echo Dot and a starter drone. There will be a brief meeting at which officers for 2018 will be elected.
Members are asked to bring either a heavy hors d'oeuvres or a dessert. Memberships for 2018 will be accepted.
Free Kidney Smart
class offered
Learn how to manage your kidney health in a no-cost Kidney Smart class, with certified kidney care educators at 5 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Farm Bureau building, 1923 Albert Pike Road. The class teaches how to create an action plan to manage kidney health, what causes kidney disease, diet resources and other helpful advice from kidney health experts.

Hot Springs Emblem Club 194 will have a Christmas party Dec. 10 at the Elks Lodge, 122 Abbott Place. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. with music by Fab 3 from 7-10 p.m.
