Program featuring former con artist Frank Abagnale to air on AETN

CONWAY -- "Barnes and ... A Conversation With Frank Abagnale" will air on the Arkansas Educational Television Network at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Frank Abagnale, a former con artist turned fraud expert consultant, joins host Steve Barnes to talk about consumer fraud. Abagnale's criminal activities were depicted in his book "Catch Me If You Can," as well as the film of the same title.

Between the ages of 16 and 21, Abagnale successfully posed as an airline pilot, an attorney and a doctor, and cashed millions of dollars in fraudulent checks before being caught. For over 40 years, he has advised the FBI on how to outsmart con artists. He is one of the world's most respected authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. He now serves as the ambassador for the AARP Fraud Watch Network.

The conversation was filmed Nov. 14 at the offices of AARP Arkansas, where Abagnale was the featured speaker at an event on protecting oneself from identity theft and scams.

"Barnes and ... A Conversation With," hosted by veteran journalist Steve Barnes and in production for more than 20 years, is an in-depth current affairs program featuring conversations with a wide variety of prominent individuals from diverse interests and backgrounds. The series is underwritten, in part, by a grant from the Moving Image Trust Fund.
