Update: Local man charged with triple homicide

Update:

Hot Springs police say they have charged Nicholas Matthew Lewondowski, 34 of Hot Springs, with three counts of capital murder for the deaths of three people at a residence on Nevada Street in Hot Springs on Tuesday.

Lewondowski will be transported to the Garland County Detention Center and booked in with no bond, police said.

Police said in a news release that detectives learned Lewondowski was at a residence at 347 Little Mazarn Road. He was arrested without incident at the residence at 6:51a.m. Wednesday.

The names of the deceased victims are not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin, the release said.

Hot Springs Police Chief Jason Stachey said in the release he would "like to recognize the men and woman of the HSPD patrol division, Criminal Investigation Division and S.W.A.T., for their outstanding dedication in conducting a very comprehensive investigation. Their diligent and outstanding work resulted in the quick identification and arrest of Mr. Lewondowoski."

Hot Springs police have now confirmed they are working a triple homicide that occurred Tuesday evening and have arrested a suspect.

Cpl. Kirk Zaner said they arrested a suspect shortly after 7 a.m. today.

The bodies of three unidentified people were found around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 208 Nevada St. in Hot Springs by police officers conducting a welfare check, Hot Springs police Officer 1st Class Joey Williams said in a news release early Wednesday morning.

Officers located "three deceased individuals" when they arrived at the scene, the release said. Their genders and ages were not released Wednesday.

"At this time detectives are investigating the scene and interviewing witnesses to determine what occurred," the release said.

The bodies will be sent to the state crime lab to determine the cause of death.

"More information will be forthcoming later today as it becomes available. No further information will be released tonight," said the release, which was made at around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday.
