A Hot Springs man was arrested Saturday on a felony battery charge after he allegedly shot a juvenile male in the back with a BB gun.

Marion Lewis Parker, 42, who lists an Albert Pike address, was arrested at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday on Barbary Road and charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Parker, who was scheduled for a plea and arraignment Wednesday in Garland County District Court, was being held at the Garland County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Garland County sheriff's Deputy John Crow was dispatched to the 100 block of Barbary Road to check on a report of child abuse and made contact with a witness, 38, and the alleged juvenile victim.

The juvenile had reportedly fled to the witness' house following an altercation with his family and told the witness he had been shot in the back with a BB gun. The witness said that, prior to the juvenile's arrival, he overheard yelling coming from the same direction as the juvenile.

The juvenile said a man known to him as Lewis shot him in the back as he was walking off the property. The deputy noted the victim had a red welt with bruising starting to form where he said the BB hit him.

The juvenile and the deputy returned to the scene to speak with the juvenile's mother and Parker. Upon arrival, the juvenile's mother allegedly stated, "I'm not going to lie to you, we shot him with a BB gun."

When asked who had shot the juvenile, she reportedly stated her boyfriend, identified as Parker, had shot her son with a BB gun. Parker allegedly admitting to shooting the boy, but noted the juvenile struck his mother in the face prior to leaving the residence.

The deputy retrieved the BB gun from the residence and called the Arkansas Department of Human Services to the scene. He placed Parker into custody and transported him to the detention center without incident.
