Anniversaries

Richard and Josephine Burrowes Campbell, of Hot Springs, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with a Mass celebration and reception at noon Feb. 19 at All Saints Catholic Church, Mount Ida, hosted by their children.

The couple were married Feb. 23, 1952, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Memphis, Tenn., with the Rev. Bill Davis officiating. Richard Campbell is the retired president of a lumber and machine handling equipment company and as a master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Josephine Campbell is a retired homemaker. They are members of All Saints Catholic Church and organizations with the Forest Lakes retirement community.

They are the parents of Linda Campbell and Bryan Reis, of Pearcy, Sharon Campbell and Randy Proctor, of Dallas, Gary L. Campbell, of Austin, Ark., Diane R. Campbell, and Susan Campbell and Jerry Elizandro, all of Mount Ida, and Lisa Campbell and Jayme Caspall, of Decatur, Ga.; grandparents of Tyler Reis, Natalie Reis Sheppard, Hannah Reis, Britton Proctor, Whitney Proctor Risch and August Caspall; and great-grandparents of William Noah Sheppard and Lyla Vaughn Reis.

Nina and Clay White, of Hot Springs, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Thursday.

The couple were married Feb. 23, 1947, in Geary, Okla.

Clay White is a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, graduate of Oklahoma State University and retired FBI special agent in charge and Garland County sheriff. He was the first director of the crime laboratories for Arkansas and served on the advisory board of the Criminal Justice Institute. Orval E. Allbritton, in conjunction with the Garland County Historical Society, published "Lawman: The Story of Clay White -- A Life of Service," a book about his life story. He is the first vice president of Hot Springs Men of the Churches, president of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Officers Association, member of the Arkansas State and National Sheriff 's Associations, Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee for the Western District of Arkansas, Thaddeus H. Caraway Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2278, and held positions for the Boy Scouts, Downtown Lions Club and Elk's Lodge.

Nina White has held positions with the Criterion Club, and First United Methodist Church where she was on Board of Stewards, the Volunteer Committee, Education Committee, Friendship Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, served as Sunday school superintendent, and now a member of Circle.

The Whites are supporters of the Garland County Jail Ministry, which he helped create during his sheriff career.

They are the parents of Glenda Heronema, Gary White and Greg White; and three grandchildren, Austin, Mason and Clayton White.
