EAST announces award finalists

Environmental and Spatial Technology Inc., an educational nonprofit organization that promotes service learning through students' applied use of sophisticated technology, has named five schools as finalists for the organization's 2017 Timothy R. Stephenson Founder's Award.

The finalists are Armorel High School, Buffalo Island Central High School, Greenbrier High School, Helen Tyson Middle School in the Springdale School District and Lakeside Junior High School in the Springdale School District.

The Founder's Award recognizes achievement in the categories of student growth; project sophistication and innovation; and community and collaboration. These awards will be presented as part of the 2017 EAST Conference during a formal awards gala at 7 p.m. March 15 in the Bank of the Ozarks Arena at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

Finalists for the Awards of Excellence include the five Founder's finalists, Bentonville High School, Joe T. Robinson Middle School in the Pulaski County Special School District and Nettleton High School.
