After a successful charter meeting of this new photography group, National Park Photography Club emerged with 12 regular members and several interested photographers. The plan for the organization will be to enhance existing photographic skills through challenges, competition and workshops.

The group has joined the Photographic Society of America and the Gulf States Camera Club Council. These two entities promote association with experts in the field through information sharing by journals, magazines and newsletters. PSA is an international organization offering many classes, study groups and a system of merits for photographic excellence. GSCCC is an association of all member camera clubs in the Gulf Coastal region, and offers expertly judged competitions in all genres of photography.

Current plans for the National Park Photography Club will be to give all members the opportunity to learn how to judge a photograph and what makes an average image into a winning image. It will be a regular practice to have club competition judged internally. Workshops on all aspects of making various kinds of pictures will help members try something new, experiment and improve skills.

Those who are familiar with their cameras and the various principles of good photography are urged to attend and see what this group is all about. The next free and open meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Garland County Library. Join us, or call 501-701-3135 for information.
