Troy sweeps LH on Senior Night

Five Hot Springs seniors started their last game at Trojan Fieldhouse Friday night, rolling over Lake Hamilton 71-40.]

Exavion Christon led all scorers with 25 points, six rebounds and three steals. Paris Harris added 17 points with seven rebounds and three steals. Trayvun Gordun also had three steals and six rebounds.

Clyde Hill had 14 points, six rebounds and two steals for the Wolves. Christian Rios had seven points with five rebounds.

Despite the Wolves allowing their usual starters a night off with their conference tournament starting Saturday, the JV squad held their own against the Trojans, taking the lead twice in the opening half before Troy went ahead to stay on Harris' dunk with 3:22 left in the quarter.

Twenty-two seconds later, Christon dunked to bring Trojan fans out of their seats again. It was 22-15 after one quarter and 50-30 at halftime. Outscoring the Wolves 21-10 in the second half, the Trojans improved to 18-11 overall before playing De Queen in the 5A-South tournament Monday at Watson Chapel.

Girls

Hot Springs' varsity girls, with two seniors, downed Lake Hamilton 56-37.

Keke Hunter's 21 points and eight rebounds led the Lady Trojans, Imani Honey adding 16 with five rebounds and Ariana Guinn scoring 11 points.

Taylor Wells led the Lady Wolves with 11 points and Jordan Williams had 10. Lake Hamilton played Texarkana Saturday at Wolf Arena in the 6A-West district tournament.

Hot Springs led 19-8 early and 32-18 at halftime, going up 51-30 in the third quarter.

3A-4 boys final

PARIS, Ark. -- Lamar led at every quarter break and pulled away in the second half to beat Jessieville 61-49 Friday night in the 3A-4 district boys' final at Paris High School.

Lamar (Johnson County) led 24-22 at halftime and 43-37 after three quarters. The Warriors face the fourth-place team from 3A-1 West at 8:30 Wednesday night in the Region 1 3A tournament in Charleston.

Jessieville dropped to 20-8 after beating the tournament host Eagles Thursday night. The Lions are seeded second in the Charleston regional and play the 1-West third-place team at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jessieville's Lady Lions (24-4), losing the district final to Lamar in overtime Friday night, play the No. 3 seed from 1-West at 4 p.m. Thursday.

First-round regional winners advance to the following week's 3A state tournament at Bald Knob. The state finals in all classfications are scheduled March 9-11 at Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs.
