Dear editor:
Donald Trump was installed as president one month ago. He campaigned as the champion of the working people and used the electronic media masterfully. What has he now shown to be his true plans and motives?
First of all, there has been great commotion over immigrant issues. As loud as this has been, it is a clever smoke screen, egged on by Bannon, to keep the base riled up. His true interest is, as they have always been, to make himself and the other elites even richer.
He selected the senior agency directors from a pool of his political hacks, most all are also financial elites. They are people who will do as they are told, not daring to speak against him and continuing to make more millions on the side. It cost one appointee only $200 million to get her job. Wonder why Trump will never release his tax returns?
He has directed the EPA to back off enforcement of clean air and clean water laws! This action allows companies to pollute our children's air and water while the companies make better profits. Also, big staff reductions are being planned at EPA. What year, at what cost, will this new pollution run have to be cleaned?
He has directed his financial advisers to develop plans to privatize highway construction, giving investors huge tax breaks and leaving us with toll roads, while the road owners count their cash. Large trucking companies will also get large tax breaks, not to complain.
He (and the Republican Party) is making plans to drastically change Social Security and Medicare! Their plans will require voucher systems and stock market participation. Again, the super wealthy stock market crowd wins big and most citizens will be left in the dust. Health care for the poor will be dumped back onto whatever charities can do.
He is in the process of rolling back the controls placed on big banks and the stock market after they caused a recession in 2008. They will now be able to run all their lucrative scams and leave the public (and taxpayers) holding the losses, again!
He has ordered the FCC to back off controls on the radio, TV, telephone and internet industries. We will have more added fees and other bill add-ons, but nobody to complain to. And, the internet "public" airways will be up for sale.
Donald Trump openly worships Russian President Putin. Trump sees his iron fist control of everything in Russia and strives to move our nation to be his empire.
So Trump supporters, is this really the America you want? When things get much worse, don't be like the citizens of Germany at the end of World War II, claiming they did not know what was going on! You do not have that excuse, nor do our elected representatives.
