Local Show offers new lineup

The Local Show Music Menagerie will feature poet and singer Heather Bennett, musical trio Christine Demeo, Cassie Lea Ford and Bryan Mullen, and bluegrass singer and musician Harris Felton at 7 p.m. Friday at Whittington Place, 301 Whittington Ave.

The show will be hosted and produced by Chana and Randy Caylor.

According to a news release, Bennett draws the inspiration for her writing from family history, parenting, folk tales, wilderness and "things that go bump in the night." She is currently working on a short book of poetry and essays for parents of children with Down syndrome.

Demeo, of the trio, is a singer and songwriter who started playing guitar when she was 15, has toured with local bands, recorded two albums and joined the Ned Perme band. Ford is the daughter of Chana and Randy Caylor, and serves as a church music director, back up vocalist for Blue Chair Recording Studio and sings and plays piano is and around Hot Springs.

Mullen recently joined Demeo and Ford to complete the trio. He is a singer, songwriter and guitarist who was a Nashville, Tenn., recording artist for five years before returning to Arkansas. The trio's music intertwines the sounds from multiple genres.

Felton's musical style of Appalachian Bluegrass comes from growing up on a farm and being the grandson of Arkansas Fiddle Champion Hank Ayers.

The show is $10 per person or $15 for two.
