French releases new CD

Local musician John French will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday at The Big Chill and release his latest CD, "Grab A Beer and Find A Seat," at the show.

A local musician and songwriter, French has been writing songs and performing since the age of 15. French is a graduate of Lakeside High School where he was a member of the Chamber Singers. In 2007, French traveled to Nashville where he made his first album, "Time to Turn."

While in Nashville, French toured the Nashville area before returning to his hometown. In 2012, French and then music partner, Trent Broughton, came in second in the Frank Brown International Songwriting Festival, in Pensacola, Fla., with their single, "What We Gotta Do."

"Grab A Beer," a collection of original songs, is French's second release since his return from Nashville, and he collaborates with other local musicians, Kyle Thurman, Christine DeMeo and Greg Cardenas.

French plays local venues including The Big Chill, Martini's on the Bay, Rod's Pizza Cellar, and also plays private parties and events.
