A Hot Springs woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly cutting her husband's face with a knife during an altercation.

Kimberly Shantell Lowe, 49, of 113 Emperado Way, was taken into custody at her residence around 11:30 a.m. and charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, a felony punishable by up to six years in prison.

Lowe, who also had a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear, remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of $5,000 bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court Feb. 27.

According to the affidavit, Hot Springs police were dispatched to the residence in reference to a disturbance involving a knife. Upon arrival, the responding officer found Lowe and her husband in the front yard. Lowe was reportedly yelling and swearing about being mistreated and the officer noted she appeared to be the aggressor in the situation.

Lowe told the officer she was upset because her husband did not work and that she paid most of the bills. She stated that she had become angry with her husband that day and decided she would cut all four of the tires on the vehicle she claimed as hers. Her husband got in between her and the front door and kept her from exiting the residence. Lowe stated the two of them struggled while she was holding a steak knife.

Lowe said her husband grabbed her hair and scratched her face. The officer noted the husband had a cut on his face and he stated Lowe had cut him with the knife. Lowe then allegedly went out the back door and ran around to where the car was parked, where her neighbor reportedly witnessed her holding a knife in a threatening manner.
