DAR welcomes fans of 'Gone With the Wind'

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Akansa Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution welcomes the public to its meeting in the chapel on the campus of Good Samaritan, Cortez Road in Hot Springs Village. Hospitality begins at 9:30 a.m.

Guest speaker will be educator, preservationist, historian, Villager and Akansa member Beverly Salisbury. Salisbury, a student of literature even in high school, earned three degrees in English and spent her career as a literature professor.

Salisbury's talk will focus on Margaret Mitchell's life and will include a little-known details about the movie version.

RPGC moves meeting to Jan. 12

The Republican Party of Garland County will move its meeting to Jan. 12 to comply with notice requirements for the election of officers.
