The deadline for students to apply to be part of the Visit Hot Springs Sister City Program's delegation to Hanamaki, Japan, for one week in early June is Jan. 16.
Students will visit Hanamaki area schools and museums. The will have the opportunity to homestay with families in Hanamaki.
Applicants must be in grades 8-12 at any Garland County school or be home-schooled and live in Garland County. Email [email protected] for more details.
All applications must be postmarked by Jan. 16. Letters of reference are required, as well as transcripts and school discipline reports.
Two student groups visited Hot Springs in the fall. City employees from Hanamaki will visit Hot Springs later this month. Another student delegation will visit the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts in March.
Teacher scholarship applications will be made available Jan. 17. The applications will be due March 31.
