City has priorities wrong

Dear editor:

Letters written by Cliff Jackson and also in Wednesday's paper, Raymond H. Allen, sure hit the nail on the head! I agree with both -- Hot Springs city board members have their priorities all wrong. To spend our tax money to pay people to decide what to do with property that they continue to tell our city what should be done with is so wasteful! I'm sure we have many qualified citizens with great ideas on how to use this property.

I'm sure I speak for many -- how about using some of taxpayer money to fix the streets in Hot Springs? It's embarrassing to drive down Central and cars are "bouncing around," even looks like a brand-new car or pickup needs "shocks!" I often wonder, what do all the tourists think when they spend their money here? Also, why isn't there a decent, or some places no, sidewalks on the east side of Central in front of the church and Cornerstone mall area? We have seen so many people, handicap in wheelchairs, baby strollers, trying to use a narrow dirt, sometime muddy, path or water-covered path. Why can't there be a decent sidewalk all the way to the corner of Buena Vista Road and Central?

I hope the "right people" get in gear and fix our streets and whoever is responsible for Central Avenue! Citizens of Hot Springs deserve better and, yes, maybe next election we should be looking for a new board!
