Bratton's basket gives Lady Eagles road win

POYEN -- Demi Bratton drove the lane for a two-point basket with four seconds left that gave Cutter Morning Star's senior girls a 43-42 victory over Poyen Friday night.

Bratton's basket gave her 26 points for the game and proved the scoreboard difference after Poyen missed a halfcourt shot. Bratton, a senior, made six three-point baskets.

Sophomore Cherokee Fields added nine points for CMS, which trailed after each of the first three quarters but outscored the host team 15-8 in the fourth.

The Lady Eagles finished the week 3-0, all on the road, after downing Maumelle Charter 57-39 Thursday and Mountain Pine 55-30 Tuesday.

The CMS senior boys improved to 20-0 with a 73-51 victory. Jacob Slayton scored 20 points, Tae Blevins 13 and Ryan Brown 12 for the Eagles, who overcame foul trouble to Chris Babb that limited the senior's playing time.

CMS goes on the road for games Tuesday against Blevins and Thursday against Caddo Hills. The next games at Eagle Fieldhouse are Jan. 31 against Foreman, followed by a Feb. 3 home date against Murfreesboro.

Lakeside-Texarkana

TEXARKANA -- Tatum Rice scored 16 points in the decisive first quarter as Lakeside's senior girls overpowered Texarkana 70-47 Friday night at Razorback Gym.

Lakeside led 23-5 after the first quarter and 45-13 at halftime, scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter.

Rice finished with 20 points and sister Thea added nine points with three treys. Ashton Patrick scored 11 points, Belle Nielson 10, Daylyn Bellamy eight and Lexi Tejcek six for the Lady Rams.

Texarkana received double-doubles of 16 points and 10 rebounds from Brooklyn Brewer and 10 points and 15 rebounds from Cedrianna Strickland.

Trayvon Robinson scored Texarkana's first basket on a slam dunk and the Razorbacks took it from there, winning 86-41.

Taviron Oliver scored 22 of his game-high 26 points in the middle quarters, and Texarkana forced 29 turnovers. Fabian Phillips added 13 points and Michael Caldwell 11 for the Razorbacks, the game ending under the mercy rule after the fourth quarter started 73-34.

Tazz Glover scored 12 points and Connor Braughton 11 for Lakeside, coming off its first conference victory of the season Tuesday night against visiting De Queen. The Rams play Hot Springs at home Tuesday night.

Glen Rose-Fountain Lake

FOUNTAIN LAKE -- In a 37-point reversal from their first meeting, Fountain Lake's senior boys turned back Glen Rose 43-36 Friday night at Bass Gymnasium.

The Cobras held on despite being outscored by four points in the fourth quarter. Jordan Mungle and Parion Johnson each scored 14 points for Fountain Lake, which lost 50-20 at Glen Rose Jan. 10 when outscored 24-8 in the third quarter.

Fountain Lake, 8-12 overall and 5-5 in conference games, plays Jessieville at home Tuesday night and visits Bismarck on Thursday.

Glen Rose outscored Fountain Lake 11-0 in the first quarter and won the senior girls' game 40-28. Isabelle Baker had nine points to lead Fountain Lake, 6-15 overall and 2-8 in conference.

Presley Hamric scored nine points as Fountain Lake's junior girls (12-5) defeated Glen Rose 29-20.
