Candidate withdraws from board race

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Two candidates, Bobby Bledsoe and J. Michael Medica, submitted applications and were certified to be placed on Hot Springs Village's board of directors election ballot. However, Bledsoe recently withdrew his application, so Medica will fill the open board seat, in accordance with the bylaws.

Pursuant to the Bylaws Article VIII, Section 6, " ... if the time set by the Association for the filing of applications expires and the number of vacancies on the board of directors to be filled at any election and the number of certified candidates for those positions are the same or less, the Association shall not be required to follow the election procedure outlined in Article VIII, Sections 4 and 5 of the Bylaws. The board of directors shall declare the candidate elected as officially as if elected by the ballot procedure, and they shall take and hold office accordingly."

In a news release, CEO Lesley Nalley said, "We appreciate Mr. Bledsoe's interest in serving his community, and look forward to utilizing his personal and professional talents in other venues." Additionally, she praised the remarkable volunteerism of Hot Springs Village residents.
