Suspects sought in armed robbery

Garland County sheriff's investigators are searching for two suspects who reportedly robbed a local variety store at gunpoint late Sunday.

A cashier the Dollar General, 830 Mountain Pine Road, said two white males ran into the store, one holding a socket wrench and the other armed with a pistol, at around 8 p.m. Sunday, according to an incident report. She said the one with the wrench leaped over the counter and forced her to remove money from the register and the safe.

The second suspect stood at the counter and kept his pistol pointed at her the entire time during the robbery. The two suspects then fled from the store with an unknown amount of money.

A second employee was also present during the robbery and witnessed the incident, the report said.

GCSD Investigator Russell Severns processed the scene, taking photographs and obtaining security video of the incident.

The suspects face charges of aggravated robbery, a felony punishable by up to life in prison.

Anyone with information about the incident or possible suspects is asked to call sheriff's investigators at 622-3690 or the department's 24-hour anonymous hotline at 622-3674.
