The Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa announced Monday that Sky Capital Group LP of Little Rock has acquired the hotel in a private transaction from Southwest Hotels Inc., owners and operators of the Arlington since 1954.

“We have long had a strong interest in this grand hotel, its rich history and iconic location," Al Rajabi, CEO of Sky Capital Group, said in the release.

“We are excited about the continuing renovations of the Arlington, and are pleased to now become a good corporate citizen in one of America’s great resort cities. We plan to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of this Arlington in just seven years and will be working to maintain it as one of the great American grand hotels.”

Bob Martorana, the Arlington's general manager since 2009, said that Sky Capital Group had developed, renovated or remodeled more than 30 hotel properties.

Southwest Hotels Inc. was founded by Grady Manning in 1929, with continued operations by the Manning and Scott Family.

The Arlington is Arkansas’ largest hotel, with 478 rooms with a full range of resort amenities including a spa and thermal bath house, a 45,000-square foot convention center, the Crystal Ballroom, the Venetian Dining Room, mountainside twin cascading pools with hot tub, a Starbucks coffeehouse, and the Lobby Bar.

In Arkansas, the group owns and operates the Four Points Sheraton on University Avenue in Little Rock.

Martorana was previously the general manager there before joining the Southwest Hotels Group.

“We are truly excited that Sky Capital and Mr. Rajabi are committed to maintaining the historic Arlington’s position as one of the South’s premier resort and convention hotels,” Martorana said.
