ITC hosts 3-D Boot Camp

National Park College's Innovative Technologies Center hosted its third 3-D Boot Camp of the summer June 26-28 at the Coronado Community Center in Hot Springs Village.

The camp was offered for students attending the Cedar Mountain Boys & Girls Club. Students ages 11-14 were able to immerse themselves into aspects of 3-D modeling, design and printing.

The camp was led by Julian Post, ITC education coordinator, and Dawn Gay, continuing education assistant. Jim Petzold, a bus driver for the Jessieville School District, provided transportation from the Boys and Girls Club to the Coronado Center. Taylor Williams, who works at the club during her summer breaks from Lyon College, helped guide the students with their creations.

Participants were able to learn the basics of 3-D design and modeling, along with principles of math, engineering and technology. The camps were offered to provide teenagers with an opportunity to use their imaginations and see their designs come to life. Their 3-D printing projects included Pokémon characters and the popular fidget spinner.

The ITC is hosting a number of summer camps for students throughout the summer. Most are being held at its 2233 Albert Pike location.
