HSV stays alive in state tourney

HARRISON -- Hot Springs Village got an offensive explosion in the last two innings to stave off elimination in Friday's American Legion Class AA tournament matchup with Siloam Springs.

Tied after five innings, HSV erupted for three runs in the sixth and eight in the seventh to advance with a 17-10 win.

Kaleb Moody and Chase Pedersen each scored in the top of the second to give HSV a 3-1 lead, Montana Carden with an RBI triple.

Siloam Springs plated five runs over the next two inning and led 6-3 before Race Tittle delivered a tying three-run home run in the fifth.

Tittle's sacrifice fly and Spencer Gracie's RBI double highlighted the three-run sixth before HSV opened the floodgates in the seventh.

Dylan Anderson had a three-run homer while Gracie plated two runs with a bases-clearing triple as part of the eight-run inning.

Siloam Springs scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Anderson induced a popout to limit the damage and seal the win for HSV.

Leadoff man Moody reached base in five of his six plate appearances, recording one single, one double, one walk and three runs scored. Carden had one single, one triple, two walks and four runs in five plate appearances.

Eight of nine starters scored at least one run for HSV.

Chance Junkerman finished with two doubles and scored one run for Siloam Springs while Trey Gettys had two singles and two runs in five at-bats.

HSV faced the winner of a Pine Bluff-Morrilton matchup in an elimination game Saturday.

* HSV fell behind early and never recovered in Thursday's second-round matchup with Texarkana. The Razorbacks plated seven runs in the first two innings and cruised 19-2.

Dylan Adcock doubled, walked and scored four runs in four plate appearances for Texarkana while Wren Williams reached base in each of his four plate appearances, finishing with two singles, one walk and four runs.

Anderson had two doubles and scored one run for HSV and Tittle singled, doubled, walked and scored one run in three plate appearances.
