Local Dollar Trees support Brigade event

All three local Dollar Tree stores have teamed up with Operation Homefront's annual Back-to-School Brigade, a nationwide school supply collection campaign, and are assigned to specific military battalions/squadrons that will distribute free school supplies to all the families in the assigned unit.

The 7th "Palehorse" Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, has been assigned to the Garland County area Dollar Tree stores, Squadron Commander Lt. Col. Tim McGrew, son of Dr. Gary McGrew and Mary McGrew Marshall, both of Hot Springs, announced recently.

Donations on behalf of these active duty military families can be made at any of the following store locations: 221 Airport Road, 4252 Central Ave., and 4654 Highway 7 north near Hot Springs Village.

In 2016, the Back-to-School Brigade distributed more than 25,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to military kids across the country. Dollar Tree is the presenting sponsor for the eighth year, setting out collection barrels through Aug. 11.
