LITTLE ROCK -- The Drum Corps International 2017 Summer Tour will return to Little Rock at War Memorial Stadium, 1 Stadium Drive, at 7 p.m. Wednesday for DCI Arkansas 2017.
The show is part of the 45th Anniversary Summer Tour that includes 110 shows in 37 states with 55 drum corps vying for this year's Open and World Class titles and the chance to compete at the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis on Aug. 10-12.
Founded in 1972, DCI is entering its 45th year of setting the standard for producing programs for the most elite marching and musical performance ensembles in the world, a news release said. The nonprofit organization focuses on education, excellence and experience, providing exceptional opportunities for achievement that inspire students and audiences around the world.
DCI Arkansas 2017 will feature nine drum corps, including Bluecoats of Canton, Ohio.; Boston Crusaders of Boston; The Cadets of Allentown, Penn.; Colts of Dubuque, Iowa; Crossmen of San Antonio; Mandarins of Sacramento, Calif.; Phantom Regiment of Rockford, Ill.; Santa Clara Vanguard of Santa Clara, Calif.; and Seattle Cascades of Seattle.
Participants hail from all over the U.S. and more than a dozen foreign countries with ages ranging from 14-22.
