Beverly Carpenter's painting, "Zara, Spain 2014," was recently voted as the Brush Strokes Painting of the Month for June. Carpenter utilized acrylic paints with an oil paint overlay, which allowed her to create more brilliance and depth in the piece. She highlights as if shining a spotlight on every point she wants the viewer to follow, while using lush colors to create atmosphere and evoke emotion. Carpenter has a Master of Fine Arts, and shares her knowledge and love of art by teaching classes for charitable organizations including her church, the neighborhood and prisons. She loves using all mediums to express herself, also carving both wood and gourds.
