Dear editor:
Recently I heard the tornado warning over the outdoor speaker system. It was loud and clear. This is also true of the tests on Wednesday at noon.
The Westminster chimes sounding is a great way to test the system. This is a way for people to know the difference between a test and a true emergency alert.
A voice test will probably result in people ignoring the voice after a while. It is human nature.
The Westminster chimes are a pleasant way to test the system. I try to either be outside at that time or just listen for it. It adds to the ambiance of a city with artistic and historical character. I vote to keep the Westminster chimes as our weekly system test.
