Spa-Con adds second 'Twin Peaks' actress

Spa-Con has added another iconic actress from the newly revived "Twin Peaks" television series.

Sherilyn Fenn, who portrays Audrey Horne on "Twin Peaks," will join fellow series star Sheryl Lee, who portrayed Laura Palmer, as a celebrity guest at 2017 Spa-Con in September.

"We are so fortunate to be host to two of the iconic television stars of an iconic series like 'Twin Peaks,'" Bill Solleder, special events manager and marketing director of Visit Hot Springs, said in a news release. "Their presence, along with Shannon Purser, brings a real credibility to this, our second Spa-Con event."

Both Fenn and Lee are featured in the current Showtime reboot of "Twin Peaks." Purser portrays Barb on the Netflix series "Stranger Things."

The multiple-genre comics and science fiction convention, which Visit Hot Springs sponsors in partnership with the Garland County Library, will be held at the Hot Springs Convention Center Sept. 22-24.

"Fans who purchase the special VIP pass for Spa-Con will be able to interact personally with these three guests. The VIP passes are available now at http://www.spa-con.org. But only 100 passes are available, so fans interested in meeting these celebrities should get them while they last," Solleder said.

Audrey Horne was the hyper-sexy high school femme fatale in the original "Twin Peaks" series in the 1990s, according to her biography from Visit Hot Springs.

Sheryl Ann (later "Sherilyn") Fenn was the youngest of three children. She and her two older brothers were reared by their musician mom, Arlene Quatro, who moved the family around Michigan. She and her mom went to Los Angeles when Fenn was 17, it said.

Within a couple of years, Fenn was working in TV and film, with multiple projects. She had a small but memorable part in the gender-bender movie, "Just One of the Guys."

Her biggest claim to fame would come in 1990, when she got the prize role of Audrey in "Twin Peaks" after reading for all the female leads. She made a memorable impression as the siren who tied a cherry stem into a bow with her tongue while doing a sexy dance, the biography said.

"It still makes me feel kind of proud and special to be part of something like that," Fenn said of the role, according to the biography.

She later starred in the motion picture "Boxing Helena" and "Rude Awakening" on Showtime, playing the role of Billie Frank, a former soap actress confronting alcohol and other demons.

Last year's inaugural Spa-Con drew nearly 5,000 fans of comics, science fiction, gaming and cosplay, according to Visit Hot Springs. Spa-Con weekend passes are available for $25 at spa-con.org. The price will be $35 on the weekend of the convention.
