Difference Makers of HS plans health symposium

The Difference Makers of Hot Springs will hold the Community Health Symposium 2017 from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Garland County Library auditorium, 1427 Malvern Ave.

The event, which will be open to the public, will feature community experts who will address "Gaps in Services" and its overall effect on the community. The focus of the panel's conversation will include "What is considered 'Good Health?'" and "Where you live, work, and play." Light refreshments will be served.

The host-moderator will be Brenda G. Brandenburg, a health nurse, case manager, and safety director for Munro and Co. Her nursing experience spans Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Arkansas where she has been employed with the former Ouachita Memorial Hospital, currently National Park Medical Center, and St. Joseph's Hospital, currently CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs.

Participants will learn what is considered a healthy vs. an unhealthy community, and how decisions will either build the community's strength or allow communities to fail.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Rehabilitation, Jimmy Johns & Sam's.
