A Hot Springs woman was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly making violent threats to a local government office last month.

Candiac Jamale Scott, 40, who lists a Malvern Avenue address, was taken into custody at 11 a.m. on a warrant for first-degree terroristic threatening, a felony punishable by up to six years in prison. She remained in custody Wednesday in lieu of a $2,500 bond and is set to appear April 4 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, on Feb. 2, Scott called the Hot Springs Social Security Administration, located at 112 Corporate Terrace, in regard to her Supplemental Security Income benefits. Scott allegedly became upset when a SSA employee informed her that she could not immediately receive a replacement benefit check. Scott reportedly told the employee, "I guess I'm going to have to blow you up."

On Feb. 3, Scott called the SSA office in Harrison. The call was automatically routed to that office when Scott dialed Hot Springs' SSA phone number. Scott allegedly asked a Harrison office employee how much the building cost "over on Corporate," and told the employee that "those people won't have a building to work at."

On Feb. 14, special agent Charles Briscoe of the SSA's Office of the Inspector General interviewed Scott. During this interview, Scott reportedly admitted to making the threats because she was angry. She said she made both threats while she was "driving around in the city of Hot Springs."
