Avoid a death spiral

Dear editor:

Chris Hedges: "The .001 percent crave the unimpeded power to cannibalize the country and pollute and degrade the ecosystem to feed an insatiable lust for wealth, power and hedonism. Intelligence, empathy and the common good are banished. Culture is degraded to patriotic kitsch. Education designed only to instill technical proficiency to serve the poisonous regime of corporate capitalism."

Hedges also talked about the death spirals of world empires such as Sumeria, Egypt, Greek, Roman, etc., who all followed a similar course to that of the U.S. Which is to suffer a moral and physical collapse. Those who ruled towards the end of empires are psychopaths, imbeciles, narcissists and deviants. The ecosystem that sustains us is being degraded and crippled. Our wealth is being concentrated in the hands of the few who have become dependent on crippling debt imposed on the people. These oligarchs quite literally suck the life out of society.

We have a world banking system that's displaced 20 million people to create room for big Ag with the excuse it's to feed the world, yet they use 75 percent of the world's resources to create 25 percent of the food while the small farmer and the displaced indigenous used only 25-30 percent of the world's resources and supplied 70 percent of the world's food. It's all about money and power and increasing their insatiable lust for more wealth.

Now the U.S. has these same greedy capitalists running our government who want to be rid of anything or anyone that gets in the way of more and more wealth, regardless of the harm they cause society and the nation. We are facing a dangerous time and we need to be ever more diligent lest we follow the death spiral of former empires.
