Voters should have a say

Dear editor:

I am writing this because I may be confused.

The bond money that was approved by the voters was for the jail. The jail is now up and running. All costs have been approved and paid. No outstanding debt. Any monies left over are not to be used for anything else.

Any, and all, amounts that exceed the cost of the jail should be returned to the taxpayers. They should not be used for anything else.

We could not get the bond approved when Judge Larry was in office because "it was a waste of money" cried some. But, suddenly, when Judge Rick was elected, it was necessary for the voters to approve the tax.

Now the people who cried it would be a waste are now "wasting" the money on nonapproved expenditures of said money.

And wow, the amount is over $4 million.

Should not the voters decide if the money is returned to them or used for another purpose?

Just wondering.
