Texarkana scores in 10, downs Rams 3-2

Lakeside scored the first two runs and Texarkana the last three on Tuesday, the visiting Razorbacks winning 3-2 in 10 innings.

Lakeside scored in the third inning, allowing single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Drake Browning picked up the winning run after reaching on an error, scoring on a bases-loaded walk allowed by Race Tittle.

Justin Scott doubled to right with one out in the bottom half but was picked off before Colby Cockerell popped up to end the game.

Jakob Johnson pitched two innings for the win after Dylan Adcock worked the first eight for Texarkana, the starter striking out five while allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk.

"He did well," Lakeside head coach Leighton Hardin said of Adcock. "He pitched really well. We didn't adjust to what he was doing. We kinda let him dictate the game and the way it was going."

Ethan Bates walked to lead off the Lakeside third and Scott tripled him home with two out, Jack Bornhoft following with an RBI single.

That was the turning point, Hardin noted.

"We were just kinda going with the flow there for a while -- pretty much the whole game after the third inning," he said. "We let him do what he wanted to. The guy (Adcock) can pitch well, and when you get a pitcher who can actually pitch, he's going to keep you off balance and make you do those things. You've gotta do something to make him adjust or put pressure on him, and we never did that tonight."

The Rams played a solid game defensively, Gage Golden starting before Tittle relieved in the top of the sixth. Gage finished with five strikeouts, and one earned run off four hits and three walks. Tittle gave up one unearned run off three hits and four walks while striking out four.

"Gage and Race, they pitched their butts off tonight," Hardin said. "I'll give them all the credit for that. Defensively, we got out of some jams. We just got into one too many, and they finally got that one run on the board. Offensively, we couldn't figure out how to adjust. We'll go back to practice and figure it out. We'll get better playing games like this."

Lakeside struggled defensively, Texarkana scoring two runs off five Ram errors.

The Rams (9-5, 3-1 in 5A-South) go to Bauxite for a 5 p.m. game Thursday.
