15th annual Tom Daniel Holiday Chili Cook-off slated

Chili and holiday lights take center stage Nov. 20 for the 15th annual Tom Daniel Holiday Chili Cook-Off and Light up of Downtown Hot Spring.

The 15th Annual Chili Cook-Off will begin at 4:30 p.m., rain or shine, at the Exchange Street Parking Deck in Downtown Hot Springs. The event, hosted by the Downtown Association of Hot Springs, will use the raised funds to support the city's Deck the Park Challenge during the holiday season. Ned Perme, with KATV, will be on hand to light the downtown Christmas lights during the event.

Cost is $5 for all-you-can-eat chili. Advance tickets can be purchased for a nominal fee through the event's Facebook page at HotSpringsChiliCookOff. Alternatively, people can go by Historic District Antiques, the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, and/or State Pride & Provisions if they want to pay cash for their ticket without paying the online processing fee of $1.24-plus tax per each ticket sold. Note: There is no cost to enter.

Cooking may take place on or off the premises. If cooking on-site, setups will be available starting at 9 a.m. Judging will take place at 4 p.m. Each contestant will have approximately a 10-by-10-foot area. "We encourage you to decorate it, as it draws people to your booth and it increases your chances to win a trophy," states the press release.
