A Hot Springs man was arrested early Tuesday after he allegedly threatened a couple while brandishing a handgun outside a local convenience store.
Randall Allen Morris, 50, who lists a Castleberry Street address, was taken into custody at around 5 a.m. and charged with felony aggravated assault, punishable by up to six years in prison. He remained in custody in lieu of a $2,500 bond, and is set to appear Nov. 21 in Garland County District Court.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Hot Springs police Officer A.J. Tart responded to Dodge's Convenience Store, 640 E. Grand Ave., regarding an assault that had just occurred and made contact with a man, later identified as Morris, in a silver Nissan Murano. Morris allegedly stated he had a firearm in the center console of his vehicle, but denied that he brandished the weapon during the reported confrontation.
The victim told Tart he and his wife were inside the store when Morris allegedly approached them. Morris reportedly said he had something he owed the man. When the man exited the store, Morris allegedly called him over to the Murano and pointed a black revolver-style handgun at the man.
Morris allegedly told him, "I'm going to f - - - you up," and the victim went back to his vehicle with his wife. When they attempted to leave the parking lot, they said they saw Morris sitting in his vehicle at the other exit, pointing the handgun in their direction. They reportedly pulled back into the parking lot and called police.
