Civic clubs

The Rotary Club of North Garland County/Scenic 7 will meet from noon-1 p.m. Thursday at Charlie's Pizza Pub, 127 McNeely Circle, at Highway 7 north across from Hot Springs Village entrance. Christians in Action is a fellowship of men and women who come together to share their experiences, strengths and hopes with one another, helping each other to overcome the traps of drugs, alcohol, meth or sexual addictions. Poetry Night will be held from 6-9 p.m. today at Kollective Coffee Plus Tea, 110 Central Ave. No cover charge. The public is welcome. The featured poet takes stage at 7 p.m., with open mic readings before and after.

Hot Springs Carousel Readers' Theater entertains audiences with performances emphasizing humor and enthusiasm. The group is unique in that actors remain behind music stands, acting out characters using facial expressions, voice and gestures. There is limited memorization since actors have scripts in front of them. People of all ages interested in theatrical study and performance are welcome to attend meetings from 10:30 a.m. to noon Fridays at Garland County Library. Cast members have appeared at Gallery Walk, civic clubs, churches and school groups, assisted living and nursing facilities, and other celebrations of the arts. Appearances are free, however, donations are welcome to cover expenses. Members are interested in appearing for fundraising events.
