HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Voices Rising ensemble will present its second annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at Village United Methodist Church.
Guest instrumentalists will join the Voices Rising vocalists on the classic Christmas hymn, "What Child is This?" with Terry Odell on guitar; David Childs on the Celtic harp; and Marilyn Antley on the flute. Also included on the program will be duets from "The Messiah" and Vivaldi's "Gloria." For a delightfully fun number, Nikki Saltmarsh and Fran Stroud will present their piano rendition of "Jingle Bells" in five-eighths time for four hands. New twists on "Away in a Manger" and "Little Drummer Boy" will remind all ages that Christmas has provided music that is timeless.
"Gesu Bambino," "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" and a remarkable hand bell solo piece will be performed, and throughout the concert the blend of secular and sacred music allows every aspect of Christmas to be celebrated.
Admission is free; donations will be accepted.
