The Sentinel-Record/Mandie Gober UP AND OVER: Makayla Wilson scores Tuesday against the Prescott Curly Wolves at the Lakeside Athletic Complex on the final day of the Lakeside Classic tournament. Wilson led the Lady Lions with 11 points.

For the second time in as many games, the Jessieville Lady Lions found themselves locked in a low-scoring affair against Prescott Tuesday night.

Trailing 23-20 after three quarters, the Lady Lions pulled within 29-30 on a three-pointer by Taryn Anderson with 15 seconds remaining. The momentum was short lived as Prescott's Lacie Nolen added a free throw in the final six seconds.

Jessieville's potential game-winner came up short and the Lady Wolves escaped with a 31-29 win in the final day of the Lakeside Classic tournament at Lakeside Athletic Complex.

"I feel like we had chances to pull out wins last night and tonight, but it's a little bit of inexperience with decision-making," Jessieville coach Magen Scrivner said. "We did cut down on our turnovers, but we didn't even hit 50 percent of our free throws and that was a big factor."

As the Lady Lions struggled to find their rhythm, Prescott opened the game on a 10-1 run behind four points from Jonay Roberts and two each from Anna Byers, Haleigh Wiley and Nolen.

"We just didn't come ready to play in the first quarter; we didn't start scoring until 11 minutes into the game," said Scrivner. "We waited too long to get into the game. We've got to come out ready to play."

The Sentinel-Record/Mandie Gober LAKESIDE CLASSIC: Jessieville's Lillianna Fehrenbacher scores against the Prescott Lady Wolves Thursday, the final day of the Lakeside Classic tournament at the Lakeside Athletic Complex. The Lady Lions next play Nov. 28 at Gurdon.

Nolen scored four straight points to open the second quarter before Jessieville started cooking. Lilliana Fehrenbacher and Makayla Wilson each scored four points as the Lady Lions closed on a 13-0 run to take a 15-14 lead at the half.

"We did dig a hole for ourselves, but most importantly, we got out of it," Scrivner said. "We had to pick up our tempo on defense, because I feel like that's what we thrive on. We have to play our offense from our defense."

Jessieville stretched its lead to 19-16 early in the third quarter, but the Lady Wolves took a 23-20 advantage into the fourth after a three-pointer from Byers and two foul shots by Nolen.

The Lady Lions never regained the lead in the final period, pulling within 24-25 and 29-30 before Prescott secured the win.

Nolan led all scorers with 13 points for Prescott while Wilson paced the Lady Lions with 11 points.

"She's the only senior and I talk to her a lot about leading us, especially offensively," said Scrivner. "When they start focusing on Makayla scoring wise, I think it helps open up some of our other players."

Falling to 0-4, Jessieville opens conference play Nov. 28 at Gurdon.

"We're kind of carrying a chip on our shoulder; we feel like people doubt us, because of what was lost from last year's team," Scrivner said. "We're focusing on what we do and what we're going to do. I think we're going to have a great season if we keep competing like we're competing."
