Eagles turn back Harmony Grove

Cutter Morning Star improved to 3-0 under first-year coach Matt Carter with a 66-43 win over visiting Haskell Harmony Grove Monday night at Eagle Fieldhouse.

Outscoring the Cardinals 14-4 in the opening quarter, CMS took control with a comfortable 33-16 lead at the half. The Eagles kept their foot on the gas with a 23-14 advantage in the third before coasting to victory.

Sophomore Ryan Brown paced the Eagles with 20 points, bringing his season average to 29 points per game. Junior Rhett Barrett added 12 points for CMS.

The Eagles will face Glen Rose in a tournament matchup at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Magnet Cove.

* Limiting Harmony Grove to just six points in the first half, the junior Eagles improved to 4-1 on the season with a 41-18 romp Monday night.

CMS led 27-3 at the end of the first quarter and 34-6 at halftime in a game that was never in doubt. Keyshawn Blevins scored a team-high 19 points for the Eagles.
