Kristin Kirkpatrick to visit AETN studios for 'The New Rules of Food'

CONWAY -- Kristin Kirkpatrick, a licensed, registered dietitian and a nutritionist, will be live in the Arkansas Educational Television Network studios for the broadcast of her program "The New Rules of Food with Kristin Kirkpatrick" at 7 p.m. Dec. 4.

Two hundred years ago, when it came to food there were no labels to decipher and no packaging claims to challenge people, most food was exactly what it appeared to be, a news release said. According to Kirkpatrick, many of the foods that used to be healthy no longer are due to over-processing, added sugars, hormones, pesticides and artificial ingredients. Through "The New Rules of Food," Kirkpatrick hopes to aid viewers by providing simple steps that can help improve their diet, weight, energy and overall health.

Kirkpatrick uses the latest research and nutrition news to help viewers learn to eat with purpose and clean up their diets. She also shows how to overcome tricky packaging claims, how cutting out sugar can boost energy and how to incorporate fasting into a routine in a healthy, simple way.

"The New Rules of Food" will help viewers decipher ever-changing diet fads, understand the regulations on food packaging claims and nutrition labels, and learn how to answer the surprisingly difficult question: "Is this food?"

The Arkansas Educational Television Network is Arkansas' only statewide public media network, which enhances lives by providing lifelong learning opportunities for people from all walks of life.
