Virginia Lee Petersen, 85, of Hot Springs, passed away on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017.

She was born on April 13, 1932, in Sweetwater, Texas, to the late Paul and Annie Carlton. She worked many years as a credit and collection manager. Her last job was in the time share division at Sunbay Resort. She loved her job and the lasting friendships she made. Virginia loved to read and make other people laugh. She loved to dance and was a member of the Emblem Club. Her motto was laughter can help cure all things.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard (Pete) Petersen, and one sister, Betty Bentley.

Survivors include her daughter, Ragina Jones and granddaughter, Christine (Chris) Woolems, all of Hot Springs, a very special great-granddaughter, Courtney Woolems, of Hot Springs; two sisters, Pauline Meyers, of Wichita, Kan., and Mary (Jack) Higdon, of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, Jerry (Pat) Carlton, of Oak Grove, Ark., and Kenneth Carson, of Houston, Texas; and many wonderful nieces and nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in the Hot Springs Funeral Home chapel with Chaplain Billy Blackmon officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Dewayne Hodges, Shirley Williamson, Lana Meredith, Fred Long and Laura Parker.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. John Bond, Dr. Timothy Webb, the staff of Lester Dierksen Hospice, her caregivers, Monalisa Wright and Christine Wilson.

Memorials have been designated to the American Cancer Society.

The family will be at 100 Pine Vista St., Hot Springs, AR 71901.

Arrangements are with Hot Springs Funeral Home.
