Wolves stay hot, soar past Hope

PEARCY -- Lake Hamilton took control early and never relented as the Wolves rolled to a 60-25 victory over Hope Tuesday at Wolf Arena.

The Wolves jumped to an 18-8 lead before stretching it to 41-18 at the half. Lake Hamilton added 16 in the third while allowing five for Hope.

Mondo Watkins led the Wolves with 15 points, Malique Hill added 13 points with three of five shooting from distance, Clyde Hill had 12 with five steals and five rebounds and Kanaan Williams put up seven with seven rebounds.

The Wolves (5-1) travel to Branson, Mo., for a tournament Thursday through Saturday.

* Jenny Peake paced the Lady Wolves with 18 points in a 47-13 win.

Taking a 10-2 lead in the first quarter, Lake Hamilton added nine while allowing six for a 29-8 halftime buffer. The Lady Wolves added 18 in the second half while giving up five to secure the win.

Grace Tedder added nine points for the Lady Wolves.

Lake Hamilton (3-2) travels to Branson, Mo., for a Thursday through Saturday tournament.

MP-Mount Vernon-Enola

HASKELL -- Mountain Pine improved to 4-0 on the season with a 65-49 win over Mount Vernon-Enola in the first round of the Bill Gibbs Memorial tournament here Tuesday.

Fay Haywood led all scorers with 21 points for the Red Devils while Matt Snow finished with 15 points on five shots from behind the arc. Tyler Zander added 10 points for Mountain Pine.

The Red Devils will face Bauxite in the semifinals at 7:15 p.m. tonight.

* The Lady Red Devils trailed 28-4 after the first quarter and never recovered, falling 63-13 in the first round of the Bill Gibbs Memorial tournament.

The Lady Red Devils will face Atkins in the consolation bracket at 3:30 p.m. today.
