A Hot Springs man was arrested early Tuesday after he allegedly broke into a vehicle and then attempted to blame the incident on his brother, saying he looks exactly like him.

Jerry Sean David Hampton, 29, who lists a Tennessee Street address, was taken into custody at around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and charged with felony counts of breaking or entering and possession of cocaine, each punishable by up to six years in prison, and misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of clonazepam.

He was being held in lieu of a $7,000 bond, and is set to appear in Garland County District Court on Oct. 17.

According to the affidavit, the owner of a Buick Century and a second witness allegedly observed a man rummaging inside the Buick while it was parked at Domino's Pizza, 208 E. Grand, just after 2 a.m.

When they attempted to confront the man, later identified as Hampton, he fled south on foot and disappeared behind the building. The vehicle owner noted the suspect was able to gain entry into his vehicle via an unlocked door.

Upon his arrival, Hot Springs police Officer Mark Wilson walked around the west side of the building and reportedly found Hampton hiding underneath a set of stairs and took him into custody without incident.

Hampton allegedly stated he had found all the items under the stairs, but later changed his story and insisted he had a brother who looked just like him who was responsible.

Underneath the stairs, officers reportedly located a car stereo, the title to the victim's vehicle, a silver socket ratchet, pink trash can, blue Domino's rain jacket and blue daily planning book.

The car owner confirmed all the items found belonged to him and they were returned. He and the witness reportedly identified Hampton as the person inside his vehicle earlier.

Once at the detention center, deputies allegedly located a BC package in Hampton's possession that contained 2 grams of suspected marijuana, a piece of tin foil containing cocaine in rock form and two clonazepam pills.

• A patient at Levi Hospital was arrested Monday morning after she reportedly became disorderly with hospital employees and ripped out a small patch of scalp from one employee's head.

Amber Lea Knight, 34, who lists a Forrest City address, was taken into custody around 11:15 a.m. and charged with two felony counts of second-degree battery, each punishable by up to six years in prison.

She remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of $2,500 bond, and is set to appear Oct. 17 in district court.

According to the affidavit, officers responded to Levi Hospital, 300 Prospect Ave., in reference to a disorderly patient and made contact with three employees who stated a patient, identified as Knight, had become violent.

The employees told officers Knight had become physical with another patient earlier that morning and had to be restrained. A short time later, one of the employees noted Knight was about to become disorderly again and pulled her to the side to speak with her.

While they were talking, Knight allegedly attempted to hit the employee, striking his glasses and causing a small scratch on his nose. Knight was then reportedly placed in a segregation room.

As hospital employees were attempting to place her inside the room, she reportedly rushed them and grabbed one employee by her hair, ripping out a small patch of hair on the back of her scalp.
