Rams win big one on road, top White Hall

WHITE HALL -- It took nearly the entire game, but Lakeside got its payback over White Hall Friday night.

With the score tied at 21, Lakeside quarterback Taylor Gilham fired a 14-yard touchdown pass to Keelan Fleming with less than 20 seconds to play. Dupree Swanson rushed for the ensuing two-point conversion and the Rams escaped 29-21.

Swanson's six-yard score with a two-point run by Michael James put Lakeside up 21-14 with four minutes left in the fourth quarter. White Hall tied it less than a minute later on quarterback Ollie Reddick's 35-yard scramble, setting the stage for Lakeside's dramatic finish.

The high-powered offenses for both teams were held in check in the first half. Swanson had a one-yard score for the Rams and Reddick broke loose for a 47-yard touchdown for the Bulldogs as the score was tied 7-7 at the break.

Dante Buckner's one-yard plunge gave White Hall an early lead in the third quarter. Gilham later connected with Swanson for a five-yard touchdown pass, but the extra-point attempt was missed and White Hall led 14-13 starting the fourth quarter.

Swanson paced the Rams with 92 rushing yards on 29 carries while James added 60 yards on 16 attempts. Gilham completed 13 of 20 passes for 173 yards, Carson Muldoon his leading target with four catches for 69 yards.

Richard Gaston hauled in three passes for 66 yards.

Reddick led White Hall with 113 yards on 13 carries, but failed to complete a pass tossing three interceptions. David Regenhardt had a team-high six tackles and one interception for the Rams while Landon Muldoon chipped in with five tackles and a pick.

Riding a three-game winning streak, Lakeside (3-3, 3-0) hosts winless Hope next week at Austin Field.

De Queen-Hot Springs

A week after defeating Hope on the same field for their first victorry, the Hot Springs Trojans fell 28-8 to De Queen Friday night at Reese Memorial Stadium.

De Queen led 8-0 in the first quarter and 15-8 at halftime.

The Trojans, 1-5 overall and 1-2 in 5A-South, go to Magnolia Friday night. De Queen (3-3, 2-1) hosts Camden Fairview.
