A local woman was arrested on two felony charges Sunday evening after she allegedly struck her husband with a pickup truck following a disturbance between the two.

Misty Leigh Powell, 34, of 620 Elkhorn Loop, was taken into custody at her residence around 6:45 p.m. Sunday and charged with second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and aggravated assault on a family member, punishable by up to six years.

She remained in custody Monday on zero bond, and is set to appear Oct. 23 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Garland County sheriff's Deputy Justin Parker found a man lying in the front yard of the Elkhorn Loop residence after being called to that location in reference to a domestic disturbance.

The man said he and his wife, identified as Powell, had been arguing over finances. When he refused to give Powell a debit card linked to their joint bank account, she allegedly became irate and got into her white Ford F-150 pickup truck, then drove erratically through the front yard of their residence before striking him with the vehicle.

He said she went back inside for a brief time and then returned, straddled him and assaulted him.

Parker noted the victim had redness and abrasions to his back, right shoulder and right knee. He was evaluated by LifeNet personnel who determined he needed no immediate medical attention and the victim indicated he would seek treatment later.
